Swim Lessons

Jalen's Papaw Dave got him set up with swim lessons at the town pool. Today was his second lesson, and I am so proud of him! By now he has worked on the skills of kicking his feet, putting his face in the water and blowing bubbles, and holding his instructor's hands and jumping in the water. She has him float on a "noodle" under his arms/chest and kick his legs, and she even let go a couple times today for a few seconds. He gets right in the water with her without any hesitation and swims 30 minutes until time to get out. That's our little fish!

Quick Update

Ok, so let's make this quick. Baby steps, people, I've gotta get back in the groove. Tess is now 8 months old!! She finally has bottom two teeth cut through, but is working hard on the sides of her mouth. More of those to come soon I hope. She started crawling about 2-3 weeks ago, which is super exciting for me because she's not laying in the floor screaming all day. Just part of the day now :) (must be the teeth) Of course, crawling is never enough, once that happens they instantly start pulling up on all the furniture. She's not saying much these days; "dada" is all we can make out. I informed her that if she continues to expect me to pack her around on my hip all day, she's going to have to start saying "mama."
Jalen is such a big boy. He is loving his new home - especially the basement. When we moved in, he couldn't remember the word "basement", so he just calls it the "base-ball game!" (On a side note, we got the baby pool out a couple days ago, and he couldn't remember "swimsuit" so he kept calling it a "suitcase!") He is so silly. He loves that he can ride his tricycle around unobstructed in the basement, and he is all set up with his bean bag and a tv for pit stops.

Mace is now an outside dog, and he seems pretty cool with that. He comes and goes as he pleases, and even has a pond to swim in, complete with two geese that he gets to chase almost daily. He's happy as a pig in mud, and usually is covered in some.
